Kim Delaney, an American actress best known as detective Diane Russell on ABC's NYPD Blue series for which she was awarded an Emmy Award. Kim Delaney has been renowned as the character Detective Diane Russell in the ABC series NYPD Blue. She also appeared on the drama series All My Children Philly, CSI: Miami, and Army Wives. Delaney was the sole child of her mother who was a homemaker and high-ranking executive of her union, the United Auto Workers. Delaney spent most of her childhood with her four brothers. When she was a little girl, Delaney wanted to be a court-reporter. In highschool her modeling career began when she was able to model for commercials and after moving New York. The role she was given was that of a young innocent in 1981's soap opera All My Children. Delaney appeared in a number of television shows, films as well as dramas in the years since. Her personal life unlike her professional has not been a success and has not been happy. The talented actress was afflicted with alcoholism in the past as well as two divorces. In 2005, she lost custody of her son.
